Xiang Wang

Position: Postdoctoral Fellow

Xiang Wang was born and grew up in Jiang Su, China. He obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry from University of Toronto. He joined in our group in Aug. 2011 as a Master student and proceeded to the PH.D. program in Aug. 2013. His research mainly involves the synthesis of blue phosphorescent organoplatinum compounds.

 

 

 

Caitlin Dao

Position: Master Student

Caitlin moved from San Diego, California to complete her BSc at the University of Toronto, Scarborough with an undergraduate research project focused on organic synthesis and electrochemistry. She joined the Wang group as a Master's student in September 2018.

 

Soren 

Soren Mellerup

Position: PhD Candidate

Soren is from Thunder Bay, ON where he was born and raised through -50 oC winters. He obtained his H.B.Sc in Chemistry from Lakehead University, where he was trained as a theoretical/physical chemist. Upon joining the group in August of 2013, he began his journey through the wonderful world of synthesis. He is currently interested in the development and creation of photochromic organoboron-based systems with potential applications in memory devices and/or molecular switches, although he will always have a soft spot for computational chemistry.


Kang Yuan

Kang Yuan

Position: PhD Candidate

Kang Yuan was born in Anhui China. He obtained his bachelor degree from Sun Yat-sen University, Yat-sen Class in 2013. After that he joined the Wang group for graduate studies. His research interests lie at developing novel boron based organic transformation.

Haijun Li

 

Haijun Li

Position: PhD Candidate

Haijun was born and grew up in Henan, China. In July 2012 he obtained his BSc degree from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Xinyang Normal University, China. In June 2015 he obtained his Master degree from college of chemistry, Nankai University, China. He joined in our group in Sept. 2015. His research topic is chemical sensors based on Luminescent materials.

Zhechang (Logan) He

Position: PhD Student

Logan was born and grew up in Yiwu, Zhejiang, China. He obtained his BSc in Chemistry and Physics at University of Alberta, Edmonton. He joined in our group in Aug. 2017. He is currently  focusing on the synthesis and photo reaction of asymmetric B,N-heterocyclic compounds.

 

Faraz Hussain

Faraz Hussain was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He obtained his H.B.Sc from the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus in 2016. He has recently joined the Wang group for graduate studies.

Lei (Frank) Dong

Lei was born and raised in Dalian, China. He immigrated to Vancouver with his family in 2012 and obtained his BSc degree from University of Toronto Scarborough. Then he joined the Wang group as a master student in September 2017.

Ulrich Makanda

Position: Master Student

Ulrich was born in a beautiful warm city called Douala, West Africa.  He obtained his DEC in Pure Science at Heritage College, Gatineau, Quebec in 2011. He moved to Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario to study Neuroscience and obtained a BSc (Hons) in 2016. Then, he completed a BSc. (Hons) in Chemistry 2017. He enjoys playing and Refereeing Soccer, listening/playing music and dancing.

Cally was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She recently joined the group in September 2016 and is currently working towards completing her BSc in Chemistry. Her work involves the synthesis of colour switching boron molecules.
